Additional trainings may be required based on your job classification and responsibilities. Information about and instructions to complete additional trainings will be provided by your supervisor.
New Employee Orientation: All staff and faculty are required to attend orientation which presents information on employee benefits and University policies, and provides an opportunity to meet with representatives from both the University and health care organizations regarding resources and services available to employees. Breakout sessions that cover information relevant to each employee's specific employee group are also held.
Privacy and Security Training: All faculty, staff, and volunteers are required to complete computer-based Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) trainings. Assigned trainings must be completed within 90 days or sooner if an earlier deadline is established by your supervisor.
Public Jobs: Private Data online security training is also required for all staff. This training consists of 3 modules, assigned in 2 week intervals, and a job-based assessment. Additional job-specific trainings may be assigned if deemed appropriate based on responses to the assessment.Assigned trainings must be completed within 90 days or sooner if an earlier deadline is established by your supervisor.
Sexual Harassment Training: The "PORTAL: Sexual Harassment Training" program deals with the harmful effects of sexual harassment in the workplace. The course is self-paced, interactive and takes approximately one hour to complete. Staff is expected to complete training at the time of hire and can complete the program online.
New Employee Safety Training: All faculty, staff, students that work in a laboratory or research area are required to complete safety training offered by the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (DEHS). Additional safety trainings may be required. Be sure to discuss lab safety training needs with your supervisor.
Keys to Supervision (mandatory for newly appointed supervisors and managers only). It gives participants an opportunity to learn about the University's climate and meet representatives from many of the University's key administrative offices.
A variety of professional development and training opportunities are available for staff and faculty through the Office of Human Resources.
The University's Employee Assistance Program provides no-cost, confidential assessment, referral and short-term consultation, over the phone or in-person, for any work or personal issues that you as a University employee may be experiencing.
Disability Services/Employee Services serves all employees with any disability or medical condition needing accommodations or adjustments; and consults with supervisors regarding employees who may have a medical condition or disability. ISSS assists international students and scholars in successfully accomplishing the goals that brought them to the University, by using all available resources. They provide advising and counseling to international students and scholars and work with departments on issues related to hiring international students, staff, and faculty.
