Dr. Yamamoto received his M.D. from Osaka University School of Medicine in 1988 and his Ph.D. from Osaka University School of Medicine in 1997. In 1999 he conducted a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He remained at the University of Alabama and his most recent appointments there were Resaerch Associate Professor in the Division of Human Gene Therapy, Department of Surgery, Medicine, and Pathology and member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. He joined the faculty of the Department of Surgery at the Univerity of Minnesota in August 2006.
