Cancer U: Ask the Experts
Curbing Cancer's Growth in the Body:
Advances in Research and Treatment

Sunday, April 26, 2009
1-4 p.m.

William G. Shepherd Room, Weisman Art Museum
University of Minnesota

McCarthy

James McCarthy, Ph.D., Tumor Biology and Progression Research Program Leader

Many cancers, like pancreatic, lung, kidney, and others, are often not diagnosed until they have spread beyond the original site. This makes treatment of the tumors very difficult. The Tumor Biology and Progression Research Program at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota studies ways in which tumor cells grow and spread through the body to sites distant from the original tumor.

This seminar will focus on the research being done by the Tumor Biology and Progression Research Program and how this research is being put into practice by University of Minnesota physicians to find these cancers earlier and be more successful at preventing the growth and spread.

Come and enjoy the art exhibits at the Weisman Art Museum and spend the afternoon with us learning about cancer.
