The Minnesota Cancer Alliance invites partners, members, and interested individuals to Cancer Summit 2008: Members in Motion, April 22, 2008, at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center.
In her role as Minnesota Cancer Alliance chair for 2008, DeAnn Lazovich, M.P.H., Ph.D., co-leader of the Masonic Cancer Center's Prevention and Etiology Research Program, will deliver the welcome and opening remarks at the Summit.
Keynote speaker Tina Gill, M.P.H., public health advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will discuss how to groom members for motion, and how to motivate them to move from a shared vision to collective action. The fifth annual Cancer Summit will feature:
The Summit will feature the second annual Cancer Connections Expo, where participants will have the opportunity to showcase their organizations' dedication to reducing cancer in Minnesota by implementing objectives outlined in Cancer Plan Minnesota. The Expo poster/display application deadline is March 18. All Alliance members and partners are encouraged to take part in this networking event to help communicate their commitment to reducing cancer in Minnesota. Download an application (MSWord doc).
For the first time at the annual Cancer Summit, the Minnesota Cancer Alliance will be recognizing groups and individuals who deserve recognition for their contributions to the work of the Alliance. More than twenty Cancer Center faculty and staff have participated in Alliance committees, task forces, projects and other activities. Nominations are due March 21. Download a nomination form (PDF).
Continuing Education Units (CEU) certificates will be available upon request at the end of the Summit.

The Minnesota Cancer Alliance is a coalition of health care institutions, community-based groups and volunteers that evolved from collaborative efforts to create Cancer Plan Minnesota. Founded in 2005, the Alliance was formed to support and implement the plan. Any organization or individual interested in working to reduce the state's cancer burden can join the Alliance at no cost.
