(Jan. 25, 2008) Volunteers from the Cancer Benefit Fund presented Cancer Center Director Douglas Yee, M.D., with a check for $36,000 at a ceremony January 2, 2008, held in the University of Minnesota Cancer Center's research building. The donation will support ongoing research at the Cancer Center.

The donation comes from the Cancer Benefit Fund's annual fundraising event held October 13, 2007, at Medtronic in Fridley, Minn. Plans are in progress for upcoming Cancer Benefit Fund events. "We look forward to our continuing relationship with the Cancer Center and to being able to provide additional dollars to continue the quest for the cure," said Barb Fellegy, event co-chair.

The Cancer Benefit Fund is an organization comprised of all volunteers from across the state who share a commitment to cancer research and to keeping 100 percent of the dollars raised within Minnesota. The Cancer Benefit Fund has supported the Cancer Center with donations since 2002.
