Teri and John Kast

Teri and John Kast

The University of Minnesota Heritage Society helps individuals develop a legacy that exemplifies their aspirations of caring for others. Through estate or financial planning, individuals can donate to the Minnesota Medical Foundation to promote health-related research and education. Teri and John Kast have established plans to make a charitable gift to the University of Minnesota Cancer Center.

In her 20 years at the University, Teri Kast, M.S., R.N., thoracic oncology program coordinator, has been a firsthand witness to the benefits of cancer research. "I am fortunate to work every day with professionals at the U who are dedicated to their patients and to fighting cancer," says Teri. John Kast, Teri's husband, works in the health industry as a mechanical design engineer in the neuro-stimulator division at Medtronic, Inc.

With their extensive background in the health field, the Kasts wanted to give to the Cancer Center through their estate. "John and I both see how the benefits of cutting-edge technology and research can offer patients hope for survival," says Teri. "We feel that the Heritage Society program gives us a way to make a substantial contribution over time. It's a good way to invest in the future."

The Heritage Society's charitable gift plans provide donors the opportunity to make a financial commitment later in life with the advantage of knowing it will be administered according to their wishes. "Giving is important," says Teri. "And I know that being a part of the Heritage Society will really enhance research. We feel fortunate to give a gift that will lend a hand to help people."
