Finding solution to unequal cancer burden starts with community partnerships

Kolawole Okuyemi, M.D., M.P.H., director of the Medical School's Program in Health Disparities Research, is leading the University's effort to address unequal health burdens among minority and underserved populations through research, education, and community partnerships. "This issue won't solve itself," says Okuyemi. "We need to make it a priority or the gap will become wider."

Rein in Sarcoma 'Party in the Park'

Rein in Sarcoma's 9th annual Party in the Park July 21 at Como Park in St. Paul will feature unlimited carousel rides, entertainment, and children's activities. University of Minnesota sarcoma doctors and researchers will be at the event to answer questions about sarcoma.

The Tissue Procurement Facility (TPF) Shared Resource prospectively obtains tissue removed during surgery, while safeguarding all aspects of patient care. Learn more about the TPF at a Shared Resources Seminar, July 6, 10-11 a.m., in 450 MCRB. TPF Director Amy Skubitz, Ph.D., will discuss services to be offered by the TPF as part of the Academic Health Center's BioNet.
