esophagus

(ee-SAH-fuh-gus)

The muscular tube through which food passes from the throat to the stomach.

Gastrointestinal (digestive) system anatomy; shows esophagus, liver, stomach, large intestine, and small intestine.

The stomach and esophagus are part of the upper digestive system.
