Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota
The Staff and Faculty Recognition Program, launched by Founding Director John Kersey, M.D., in June 2001, is designed to inform and update staff and faculty about Masonic Cancer Center activities and research, and to honor outstanding contributors to the Masonic Cancer Center mission.
During quarterly events, the Masonic Cancer Center's research program leaders give presentations on recent accomplishments and other ongoing activities in the following areas: Cancer Prevention and Etiology, Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention, Women's Cancer Research, Transplant Biology and Therapy, Cancer Progression and Metastasis, Genetic Mechanisms of Cancer, and Immunology. The presentations are held in 450 Masonic Cancer Research Building and are open to all staff and faculty.
In addition, a recognition award is presented to outstanding contributors (individuals or groups) to the Masonic Cancer Center programs presenting at the quarterly events. Each recipient's name also is engraved on a plaque, which is on display in the fourth floor atrium area of the Masonic Cancer Research Building. Nominations are reviewed and recipients are selected by members of the research programs.
The Population Sciences area was featured at a Staff and Faculty Recognition Program event November 28, 2007. Population Sciences includes the Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention Research Program and the Prevention and Etiology Research Program. Event summary with links to program presentations.
